Abstract: It's significant to concentrate viral particles in aquatic environment for virus detection. This review focuses on the concentration approaches of viral particles in water, including filter adsorption and elution, ultrafiltration, ultracentrifugation, flocculation, specific receptor capturing and so on. In this review, the principle of the concentration approaches was introduced briefly. And the operation steps, the effects of the concentration methods and the methods application area were discussed comprehensively. At last, the main shortcomings and challenges of the reported virus concentration approaches were put forward, and several solutions were proposed based on the advanced methodology. The advanced methodology has the potential to improve the virus recovery rate from water, which make the detection results more accurate.
