Abstract: The umbilical cord and peripheral blood of naturally conceived and in vitro fertilization (IVF) children were collected, then serum was extracted. All children were detected the serum brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) levels with the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).The neurobehaviour scores were evaluated with the autism behavior checklist (ABC). Color Doppler Ultrasonography was used to measure the placenta thickness at 11 and 21 weeks of pregnancy. To understand the difference of neurobehavioral development between in vitro fertilization and natural conception. The results showed that serum BDNF level of in vitro fertilization children was lower than that of natural conception children (P<0.01), ABC scale score was higher than that of natural conception children (P<0.05), and placental thickness increased at 21 weeks of gestation (P<0.05). This suggests that in vitro fertilization may affect placental development and lead to changes in neural behavior in children.
